Snow Leopard - Smaller, Better, Slower. Jul 29, 2010 Apple newest version of the os (as of this writing on 7-29-2010 A.D.) is smaler than the previous version as well as the version I was running 10.4.11. It has some new features that I am really enjoying. It has slowed down my 2GB iMac to a crawl when running AppleWorks 6.2 which requires Rosetta to run. What happened pretty much instantly under Tiger (10.4.11) now takes up to a half minute using Snow Leopard. And lets not forget Adobe Photoshop 7.0 which now doeswn't run at all under Snow Leopard. I am going to either go to another software package for editing photos, which I really don't want to do or shell out another $700.00 to upgrade to the newest version of Adobe Photoshop. I mean I bought Adobe Photoshop 5.0 I upgraded to 7.0 and now with a mere $26.00 Snow Leopard upgrade all of that investment is gone. I wish somebody would class action law suit Apple & Adobe over that issue. If the only issue was price I would say the upgrade was easily worth the price but when you add in the nearly thousands of dollars in software that now either won't run or runs a ot slower due to this upgrade I wish I had never bought it to say the least. I am sure if I had a newer computer with more RAM and a faster CPU the most of my issues would have been solved except acoarse the Adobe Photoshop issue which I must say is a rally big one. There is no way I am aware of to reinstall the older version of the software without completely erasing everything on the hard drive. Ugh. I should have just waited an got a new computer instead of upgrading the OS. Either way Adobe Photoshop 7.0 would be no more so as much as I like some of the new features they don't in any way in the slightest make up for what is lost, not even close... I recommend going online to see if the software you use every day is compatible with Snow Leopard. And if you are running Software via Rosetta (aka - Not intel native software) it will drastically be slowed down during some of it's operation and these slow downs are not only noticeable but extremely annoying to say the least. If I had it to do over I wouldn't have.
Rtist Jul 19, 2010 Only recently installed it, but so far I'm lovin it. My Mac is more powerful with more options than ever.
snow leopard Mac Jul 07, 2010 Except for E Mail, I believe computer is now faster. Stacks and IChat are quite useful
Great- exactly what you expect Jul 05, 2010 I upgraded straight from Tiger, and Snow Leopard installed perfectly and works great! The seller shipped quickly and everything was as expected. I recommend this seller to anyone.
Great just for new bootcamp drivers alone Jul 01, 2010 I bought this product to update the Bootcamp drivers and allow my mouse to work properly using Windows 7 64-bit. For the last 2 years we have been struggling with our Macbook running Windows, without a right click button or tap to click. Tried downloading drivers off the Apple Website to no avail. This was the only way of getting the new drivers. All the Bootcamp drivers have been updated, making the machine much more stable and faster. The mouse also works perfectly! Highly recommended, and I have not even loaded Snow Leopard itself yet.
